Light, fickle winds and blazing sunshine created taxing conditions for the third race in the Pursuit Race Series. The slow pace meant that, although only two rounds of the short course were completed, a third of the starters ran out of time and scored "DNF".

Low boat speed also increased the importance of the tidal strategy but the event was largely decided by a veering gust as the later starters began which gave them a free ride to the first mark whereas the earlier starters had had a laborious beat.
