The postponed Helford Pursuit Race held on 4th June enjoyed blazing sunshine but was plagued by light and fickle winds. The tide flooding up Carrick Roads bunched the competitors at the start but a small group slowly drew ahead on the way to Black Rock ECM. Dhokos, flying her spinnaker from the line, and the gaffer Lily led Rhum Truffle and Jezail across the bay but Freyja, taking a course further offshore, took the lead by the August Rock Buoy. Rhum Truffle and Jezail exchanged positions several times and both passed Lily entering Helford River but the gaffer managed to evade the worst of the now ebbing tide and pipped Jezail on the line by the length of her bowsprit! The finishing order was:
The rest of the fleet succumbed to the temptation of cream teas and croquet hosted by Brian and Sue Rosevear in their garden at Helford Passage and retired. ![]() ![]()
